Meow the Eleventh – CDA, QDA, and CAT

CDA via CAT sounds ominous, but actually no secret is buried here. CDA stands for Critical Discourse Analysis, QDA is short for Qualitative Data Analysis, and CAT is, apart from being the word for feline friends, an abbreviation of a software available on the net, namely Coding Analysis Toolkit.

By the way, CAT is also short for Computer Aided Translation, Caterpillar Inc., City Airport Train, and Centre for Alternative Technology.

Critical Discourse Analysis looks at language, for example use of words, connotations, and development of connotations through time. An critical discourse analysis will therefore look at certain nouns, verbs, adjectives, and objectives, at their connotations, cat names, and more.

Over 400 pages of text are waiting for analysis, though not with the software CAT but with QDA Miner Lite.
