Meow the 60th – Dolce & Gabbana & Cats

Cats are high fashion, literally, now that they  have been featured by Dolce & Gabbana. Bengal cats have become part of Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall Winter 2016/17 collection .

But cats are more than fashion on dresses, jumpers, bags, and scarves. They are inspiration, and mystical, magical creatures, which is something Dolce & Gabbana picked up upon:

Cats, soldiers, stars and class slippers come to life on there pieces, recreating the dreamlike atmosphere of fairy tales. The characters and toys of our childhood transformed into fantastical decorations which, as if by magic, turn our dreams into reality. (taken from website: Dolce & Gabbana – Wonderland)

Cats as muses, inspiration, and magical mystical beings have long played a role for people (see the part “Historical Pawtraits” in the Meow Factor’s research publication).

Dolce & Gabbana are not the first fashion designers to use cats on their designs. Karl Lagerfeld’s Choupette Collection is another example (see also Meow the 36th – Cat’s got your wallet, not your tongue).

The photo has been taken from there.
